Samsung’s upcoming smartphone, the Galaxy S24 Series, is about to be released in a few weeks. Reportedly, it will be released on January 17th, 2024, at 11:30 PM IST in San Jose. This device will be unique, as its highlighted feature will be the AI-powered Galaxy AI, making it the smartest AI phone ever.
The Galaxy S24 Series is said to come in three models: the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Renders of the device have already surfaced online, revealing the key design and confirming the previously rumoured features.
Key Specifications of the Galaxy S24 Series
It comes with a 6.8″ QHD+ 120Hz AMOLED screen and an S-Pen stylus. It also has a 6.2″ FHD+ AMOLED screen. In terms of camera performance, the device has a 200MP sensor with a familiar ultra-wide-angle lens, a 10MP 3x zoom lens, and a new 50MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, replacing the 10MP 10x camera.

In terms of performance, it is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Exynos 2400 SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of storage. There is one issue with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Base model, as it comes with slower UFS 3.1 storage. It is expected to have the same price as the Galaxy S23, while other models will have UFS 4.0 storage.

The device offers a 5000mAh battery, a 45W fast charging solution, and wireless charging support. The Galaxy S24 will be available in exclusive online silver, light brown, and green colours.
Galaxy AI
The Galaxy S24 Series is powered by Samsung’s generative AI model called Gauss, which allows the device to offer similar AI functionality. It is the smartest AI phone ever and offers some revealed features, such as Live Translate and Generative Edit.
- Live Translate: The device will offer real-time translation for voice calls and translation on messaging applications in various languages. To ensure a seamless translation experience, the Galaxy S24 Series will offer on-device translation.
- Generative Edit: It helps polish unfinished retailer listings by moving or editing objects in photos. It requires a Samsung account and an active internet connection to process the image on the cloud.
- Magic Editor: This feature reframes the photo after taking the image and processes it on the cloud.
The device will have an on-device AI to answer your questions. The device might offload the processing to the cloud for more complex tasks. It also offers an AI photo editing tool that is similar to the Google Pixel 8. Samsung is competing against Google’s recent AI integration into the Pixel 8 Pro, powered by Gemini Pro and Gemini Nano.
Camera
In terms of the camera, the device will feature AI functionalities that offer the highest resolutions: 50MP on the S24 and S24+ and 200MP on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, accomplished by a 12MP Ultrawide and 12MP Selfie shooter. Some of the already existing features include nighttime zoom, high resolution, and screen display.

Battery
S23 will have a 4000mAh battery, S24 Plus will have a 4900mAh battery, and S24 Ultra will have a 5000mAh battery. Similar to previous devices, the device will have IP68 water and dust resistance.
Colour and Price of the Device
The device will be available in different colours: black, grey, purple, and yellow, along with a few additional colours, for a total of six colours. These colours are Onyx Black, Marble Grey, Cobalt Violet, and Amber Yellow, which will be made available via the Samsung store. As for the pricing, Samsung reportedly will not make the device more expensive in Europe.
