Samsung is quite close to launching its Galaxy S24 series in early 2024. The company is aiming to ship 35 million Galaxy S24 units in 2024. This is a significant increase—a 10% increase compared to the S23 Series—indicating a sense of urgency to regain market share.
Leaks, reports, and rumours of the three models of the S24 Series, which include the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, have been circulating. As the Galaxy S24 is close to release, several certification sites have revealed the model numbers: Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra with the SM-S921B/DS, SM-S926B/DS, and SM-S928B/DS, respectively.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Launch Date
According to reports, the Galaxy S24 series is expected to have an unpacked event on either January 16 or January 18, 2024, in San Jose, United States, and will be available for public sale on January 30 for buyers worldwide. Pre-orders are expected to open on the same day, right after launch, with shipments expected to arrive between January 26 and January 30.

Initially, Samsung considered San Francisco (US) and Seoul (South Korea), but due to Samsung’s collaboration with Google and competitive dynamics, Samsung is set to hold the event in San Jose.
During that event, Samsung may also introduce the Galaxy Ring, a fitness ring for health and fitness monitoring, and other things said to be announced during the event.
Key Specifications of the Galaxy S24 Series
The series is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon in most regions; however, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ may have Samsung’s Exynos 2400 SoC. As for the display, it is said to feature an LTPO OLED display with 2500 units of brightness.
Processor
This year, Samsung will use a two-chip strategy that includes an SoC from Qualcomm and Samsung’s Exynos Silicon. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3: Made for Galaxy With faster clock speed, that will provide excellent GPU performance, a 17% gain, a 1000MHz GPU, and a 33% performance boost in single and multi-core, respectively. Reportedly, the upcoming Galaxy S24 will feature an RDNA3 GPU.
To make AI performance faster, Samsung has introduced Low Latency Wide IO (LLW) DRAM, which increases efficiency. The chipset, DRAM, and LLW DRAM will work simultaneously. Further, there is an upgraded vapour chamber for cooling that is said to improve by 1.6x.
Design
CAD renders of the device were already leaked a few months ago and show almost no physical change for the next-gen phone from the previous model.
The device is said to come with a flat-screen display. Unlike the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which features a titanium frame, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will have a metallic frame similar to their predecessors.
Operating system
The series will run on Android 14-based custom One UI 6.1, which will introduce HDR-viewing in the Gallery app for photos, Ultra HDR features, and satellite communication capabilities. As Google has raised the bar for OS updates, we can expect to receive five years of OS and six years of security updates.
By integrating 5G NTN standard satellite communication technology into the Exynos Modem 5300, dead spots are eliminated, ensuring connectivity. Telecom communication companies, including T-Mobile and SpaceX, aim to provide 100% coverage in the US. In areas where connectivity isn’t available via mobile towers, the system takes advantage of low-orbit satellites to send emergency messages.
Camera
The primary camera sensor will be a 50MP ISOCELL GN3 sensor, allowing users to select and automatically track subjects while filming, reducing shaking and keeping subjects in-frame.
A new 200MP ISOCELL Zoom Anyplace Sensor will add 2x, even 4x zoom capability. The Qualcomm AI engine, powered by AI, will further enhance the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the addition of End-to-End (E2E) AI Remosaic, improving image processing, allowing users to capture 200 MP images faster, reducing latency, and enhancing image quality.
Galaxy AI
Samsung has announced an in-house AI model called the Gauss Generative AI Engine for a comprehensive mobile AI experience, competing against other popular smartphones. It will run on-device, reducing latency and ensuring minimal privacy concerns for a secure user experience. It is trained to comprehend language, codes, and image AI models.
The AI tool, called Galaxy AI, will have generative AI functionality integrated into Generative Wallpapers and Bixby Smart Assistant for better interaction. Powered by on-device AI developed at Samsung and cloud-based AI, it will enable content generation based on user input and text-to-image capabilities like writing emails, summarising documents, and translating.
Some of the features it will offer include AI Live Translate Call, which allows users to communicate in different languages during calls. AI will also be used to reduce noise, improve clarity, convert low-resolution images to high-resolution, apply style changes, add elements, and more. In addition to this, Galaxy AI will improve photos and enhance search capabilities. Samsung stated that all these models are designed to protect user privacy while ensuring safe AI usage through the AI Red Team, which checks for security and privacy issues during AI tasks like data collection, service deployment, etc.

Galaxy S24
The device will come with a 6.2″ super-AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will run on Android 14-based OneUI 6.1 out of the box. In terms of the camera, it is expected to have a 50MP + 12MP + 10MP rear camera and a 12MP selfie shooter.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Soc and the Exynos 2400 Soc, coupled with 8/12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage. The processor is upgraded with an Adreno 740 GPU, and there is a 4000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, IP58 water and dust resistance, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Galaxy S24 Plus
It comes with a 6.7″ FHD+ resolution with a 120Hz screen refresh rate and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Soc and Exynos 240 Soc, paired with 8/12GB and 128/256GB of onboard storage.
Additionally, it has a 12GB + 50MP Samsung GN3 + 10MP rear camera and a 12MP selfie shooter. Meanwhile, there is a 4900mAh battery. It will come in four different colour options: Onyx Black, Marble Grey, Cobalt Violet, and Amber Yellow.
Galaxy S24 Ultra
Live images of the Galaxy S24 Ultra have leaked online, suggesting the device will feature minor upgrades such as a titanium frame and flat display panel. It will come with a 6.78″ WQHD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, and under the hood, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen SoC, paired with 8/12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
It runs on Android 14, and in terms of camera, the device will feature a 200MP Samsung HP2 primary, 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 108MP telephoto lens, and 50MP periscope rear camera. The front features a 12 MP selfie shooter. The upgraded camera module allows users to shoot video in 4K resolution with the capability to zoom in 2X or 4X in any direction.
Furthermore, it has a massive 5000mAh battery, which supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. The device is expected to measure around 158.5×75.9×7.75mm in dimensions. Also mentioned is the new vapour chamber for cooling, which is 1.9 times larger than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
It will sport an identical design to its predecessor. On the bottom, it features a USB Type-C port, two microphones, a SIM card tray, a speaker grille, and an S-pen slot. This time, the power button and volume rockers are slightly bigger on the right. Meanwhile, there are two microphones instead of one, but also a single microphone and a single cutout for the speaker instead of an individual speaker grille. It has IP68 water and dust resistance, UWB connectivity, 5G, NFC support, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
It is said to come in four different colours: titanium black, grey, violet, and yellow. The S-Pen of the device seems to be similar to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, having a 2402-2480MHz frequency, a total length of 104.64mm, and appearing on NBTC certification with the EJ-PS928 model number.
