The tech giant “Microsoft” is not just a software company but a trust built over 48 years. To maintain this belief, Microsoft has specific policies for its products. Here, I refer only to Windows. As you can see, Microsoft has greatly improved and rolled out numerous updates. Support and assistance are provided at the beginning of the process, but every product has a defined lifecycle.

In this case, the term “lifecycle” refers to the end of the lifecycle; at this point, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for the product for which a lifecycle has ended. Recently, Windows 10 22H2 and its related editions lost Microsoft support. Some of you know about this end period, but you will be surprised to learn that many users ignore it. So, let’s look.

End of service for Windows 10, version 22H2 Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations

When Microsoft released Windows 10 21H2 in November 2021, the build was filled with many new features, such as GPU compute support for Windows Subsystem (Linux), the latest CSPs, apps that appear local with Azure Virtual Desktop, and Wi-Fi WPA-3 Personal H2E support, among others. These were updated additions to the previous Windows update. However, apart from that, Windows worked on other things in the same build to meet specific purposes.

There are a few editions of the same Windows 10 21H2 build, such as Pro Edition and Pro for Workstation. These editions were developed only for organizational purposes. Although they were the most reliable when introduced, some issues were found, such as authentication problems and taskbar disappearances. After learning about these issues, Microsoft released the final build, 22H2, where they resolved everything and added Windows 11 to their line-up.

From that point forward, many users shifted to a 22H2 build, but we still found that some users still used the 21H2 build. As of now, everything is going as usual, but now such users need to think because Windows 10 21H2 Home, along with Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstation, ended on June 13th, 2023, and from now on, you can’t receive any security updates for such a build, as well as any support from Microsoft.

With this analysis, it is imperative to understand that even after Microsoft ceases support, using Windows 10, 21H2 can be risky. Technically, you need assistance, which is possible when using an active Windows version. So don’t delay; upgrade to at least Windows 10 22H2, as it has plenty of time to end. This is more likely to happen on October 14th, 2025. If you’d like to upgrade to such an updated build, look in your PC settings for the update. Follow the screen instructions.
