Microsoft is aggressively pushing its Windows 11 and adding features to its core products and services to improve the experience. The company is also enhancing its ecosystem by integrating Apple and Android operating systems, which are starting to come to Windows 11. More than 73% of Windows devices are still running on Windows 10, so it is advised to upgrade to Windows 11.
After eight years of development and support since Windows 10 was announced, Microsoft has officially called Windows 10 22H2 the final version of Windows 10. Reportedly, the company is working on the upcoming version of Windows called Windows 12. Since Windows 11’s launch, the company has kept improving its core products like Microsoft Weather, Microsoft Edge Browser, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Microsoft File Explorer, and Phone Link for Android and iOS, and there are many more under the hood.

Microsoft has officially confirmed that they will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. This means the company will no longer add any additional features or drop feature updates to Windows 10. However, Microsoft will keep pushing monthly security updates.

Windows 10 will not stop working. All editions like Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 Education, Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 10 Pro SKU will receive minor fixes and security patches. However, Windows 10 LTSC will have extended support. Windows 10 LTSC is expected to end mainstream support in January 2027.
Finally, Microsoft has also announced that Windows 11 LTSC will be released, ensuring that once Windows 10 LTSC support ends, the long-term servicing channel (Enterprise and Enterprise IoT) is scheduled to launch by the next half of 2024. Until then, the company will manage to make Windows 11 stable so that the current Windows 10 LTSC can upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11 LTSC.

Users will keep receiving security updates until 2025, but there will be no feature updates. Instead, Microsoft will roll out an enablement package, which means new features will be updated without shipping major system updates. You may remember the new Start menu adopting new titles without colour, among other features. However, this won’t contribute to adding any significant changes to make any difference where primarily aimed to roll out updates that will affect business and won’t do anything to regular Windows 10 users.
