Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 5 Beta for Watch OS, which is available for the Galaxy Watch 5 or Watch 4. The beta update is available in the US and South Korea and can be downloaded with a PDA build number ending in ZWFA. The update brings several fixes for issues and bugs and addresses the laggy UI.

This is a beta build, which means it has a lot of platform instability, and users have reported facing battery drain, unfunctional Samsung Pay, and other functional errors. Several new features are coming with One UI 5 Watch Beta, such as bicycle riding, auto exercise recognition, better health tracking, and many other improvements that could significantly impact the overall user experience.

This update comes shortly after the One UI 5 Beta Programme, which fixes critical bugs in battery life, performance, and more. Users who have already enrolled in the One UI 5 Watch Beta will receive a notification of the update via the Samsung Member app.

This is available via OTA update, which means users just need to follow the instructions mentioned below.

  • Open the Galaxy Wearable app and go to the Galaxy Watch.
  • Tap on Watch Settings, and then tap on Watch Software Update.
  • Tap on Download and Install to upgrade.

Note: The beta is live in selected countries, including the United States, and is expected to be available for other wearables like India, the EU (Europe), Australia, and Canada later this week.

OneUI 5 Watch Beta Issues

  • Minor issue after Power On, which has been partially improved.
  • Fixed Samsung Pay, where users could not use it after OS updates.
  • Fixed battery drain issues.
  • Apart from this, several improvements will address the bugs.

This beta also has backup and restore functionality and Watch Face Studio from WearOS 4 in collaboration with Google and Samsung to design watch faces. Additionally, there are new sleep management features, personalized fitness features, enhanced safety features, and much more, as mentioned below.

  • Watch Faces and Tiles: New watch faces and tiles will be available vertically, making it easier to find fresh new watch faces and tiles.
  • Also, it has 360° audio, which you can control from the Buds Controller tiles.
  • Quick access to timer tiles without opening the timer app
  • Set an album or story as your watch face. Instead of one picture, you can choose different watch faces that cycle between pictures in the album or story.
  • Samsung Health also received a major update to record cycling workouts and detect and start cycling automatically. It also allows users to set up an automatic map of their cycling routes.
  • It also gives heart rate guidance during running and personalized heart rate zones during intense workouts.
  • Allows users to control their phone without touching it and also allows them to adjust call volume, mute sound, and press buttons on the keyboard.
  • It has a Smart Switch app, allowing users to switch data and keep a backup of data periodically when connected to the watch.
