The company is looking to expand its feature set with additional tools, and you have tools like Replace background, also the ability to place objects in specific spots in graphics and erase. It is available and accessible for everyone and will come to Microsoft 365 Subscription with additional features. Designers can use these images for anything, even for commercializing the image. It really has some potential to change the image created in the future.
Currently, during the preview, it will remain free for all users, but Microsoft has also shared their plans to bundle this in their Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscription. We need further details on how long it will remain free or if it will be available for free to non-subscribers. Moreover, it would be freemium, meaning some features may be behind a paywall for which users must purchase Microsoft 365 subscriptions.
Microsoft Designer, powered by OpenAI’s DALL-E 2, was first announced in October 2022
Where they shared they want to make creation simplified with AI capabilities to give users a professional-looking design, even for users who are not experienced in design. It has been improved since the company first announced it, and they have been competing against popular image creation tools like Canva, Adobe Express tool, and Stock Image.
This has AI technology to have a modern design tool. This will give users more productive and creative ideas. Microsoft Designer improves, giving users more creative ideas to create unique graphics. After giving a promotion, users can type a phrase if they don’t like the design. Users can even get copy suggestions, from headlines to short text with font suggestions that match the design.
This is currently in development, so you may encounter issues with the Microsoft Designer. The user interface of Microsoft Designer is quite like Canva, which allows users to work on different types of designs based on their preferences. The company is gathering data to refine its service before they release it to the public.
Microsoft Designer, an AI-powered tool, has generative AI technology
There are 20 different social media layouts. Microsoft Designer allows you to resize posts with different layout sizes like Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and more. Also, this is accessible on the web, which makes it easy to design certain things in the box and create content without needing to switch between different programs, and this will remain saved online. This could be a time-saver for those unfamiliar with Photoshop and powerful image creation tools.
Microsoft has heavily invested in OpenAI and built DALL-E, which can result in extraordinary results with the text prompt. With similar features, Microsoft Designer used the DALL-E capabilities to generate images based on the user’s input. On top of DALL-E, Microsoft has built several customization and personalized design options with the drop-down menu and text box to leverage the technology so they can offer high-quality images with minimal effort to make a first draft.
This design is also integrated into Microsoft Edge Browser, which you can enable from the sidebar of the Edge Browser settings. However, that Sidebar Designer has some limitations, but this Microsoft Designer has features it allows you to generate captions and hashtags to create animation visuals with background and text translation.
This tool suggests layout, images, and colour based on the user’s preference and content. You can also erase and replace the background, enabling users to remove unwanted objects, people, or backdrops from the graphics. These things give users more control over their designs. Microsoft does confirm that it doesn’t generate images from scratch.
Lastly, this could have some legal questions surrounding the AI-powered images, but Microsoft gives users full rights to commercialize any images generated with Microsoft Design. More features are in development and will be available in the coming weeks, like the Fill, Expand Background, Erase, and Replace background are coming.
