Xiaomi has officially replaced the company’s Android-based custom skin MIUI with HyperOS for Xiaomi devices. MIUI, which Apple’s iOS has highly inspired, shares similarities with iOS. HyperOS is said to offer an ecosystem experience along with several advantages and significant upgrades.

The company has not announced whether older devices will receive HyperOS or continue to receive MIUI updates. HyperOS is not entirely built from scratch; Xiaomi has renamed MIUI to HyperOS with the latest Android 14 announcement. This new custom skin is said to offer new customization options for the lock screen, including new templates, clock, font, and widget options, as well as more detailed wallpaper customization.

Xiaomi’s new custom skin, HyperOS, is based on Android 14.

There are many optimizations to improve further performance, including animations, lock screens, notifications, wallpaper, calculators, cameras, icons, and weather updates. Xiaomi is also bringing advanced features such as the Control Centre, lock screen customization, toggles, and home screen layout options (4×6, 5×6, 6×6, 7×6, 8×6, and 9×6 grid) to make the UI experience more responsive and stable.

This brand-new custom skin is said to first appear on the Xiaomi 14 Series in China, and the wallpapers are designed to enhance the experience further. However, HyperOS is said to be first introduced to some Xiaomi smartphones, including Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Redmi K60, and Redmi K60 Pro, by mid-November in beta.

The Xiaomi HyperOS roll-out is scheduled.

The new HyperOS Launcher and the HyperOS app are quite identical to the MIUI Launcher in terms of features, providing the same level of experience as MIUI. We also share a comparison of both OS; check out the following:

This is extracted from the latest HyperOS beta. If you encounter any issues running the HyperOS Launcher Beta, we recommend uninstalling it.

Note: It is not recommended to install Xiaomi’s HyperOS Launcher on devices below Android 13. Subsequent batches of information will be continuously updated.

Xiaomi also releases other launchers, like Poco Launchers, which work great on Android smartphones. However, this has yet to be officially shared by Xiaomi; instead, it is extracted from HyperOS. In comparison, other launchers, like Microsoft Launcher, require many resources. You can also try Android launchers like Nova Launcher and Niagara Launcher, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
