Samsung has introduced its Image Clipper with the One UI 5.1, alongside major improvements and new features. This feature is also rolling out to older Samsung mobile devices. However, it was initially only available to the Galaxy S23 series, but it is also rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S22 series with the April 2023 update.

This is the latest addition to the Galaxy smartphone. Image Clipper lets you quickly and easily remove unwanted objects from photos and videos to create custom backgrounds, stickers, and graphics. It’s similar to the auto-cropping or lasso tool but with artificial intelligence. This feature currently works with Samsung Gallery apps and the Samsung Internet browser.

This feature is quite handy. You can use this tool to quickly and easily crop objects from any photos and videos to use or open on your Gallery or Samsung Internet app. To use this feature, you must first open the video or image from which you want to extract the object. It will automatically select the object or person from the image or any media, and a selection box will appear around it. You can drag the corner of the box to resize it, and once you finish, click on the Crop button to save the cropped image or video.

Image Clipper will lift your object from photos or videos, but it is only able to extract from Samsung Gallery and Samsung Internet browser. It makes those images into sharable images or PNG files with transparent backgrounds. As we mentioned, you can save this, but you can also share it as a sticker on your WhatsApp and use it to design custom social media graphics. You can also share it on Samsung Notes. There are a lot of possibilities, which is another way to discover the capabilities and use-case scenarios.

As mentioned, this only works with Gallery and browser, but alternatively, you can take a screenshot and then later edit it by opening that screenshot into Gallery apps. When you lift the object from the image, you can also copy the image into your clipboard and then head over to WhatsApp or other messaging apps that support converting or transforming PNG into a sticker. From the keyboard clipboard, simply paste it into the text box of WhatsApp, and it will convert it into a sticker.

If you want to extract any object from your browser while browsing, you can do so without performing any action, as this feature is enabled by default in the Samsung Internet browser. To use this feature on your Samsung Internet browser, simply long-tap on the image and choose “Clip Subject from Background” from the context menu. After that, you can either copy the object or share it with other apps like Gallery or WhatsApp as a sticker or in Samsung Notes. Note that other apps should support this format and can insert images.

This feature might come to older devices, as a Samsung moderator has revealed that the company is working on Image Clipper for other Galaxy smartphones with the upcoming update of One UI 5.1. This update will follow the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Samsung One UI 5.1 comes with new battery widgets, improvements to multitasking where it can resize two split-screen apps simultaneously, and in addition to corner window snap support. There are also new ways to connect your Galaxy device to Wi-Fi speakers and to share the mouse, keyboard, and trackpad with your Galaxy Books using Galaxy phones and tablets.
