After months of testing the split-screen feature on Microsoft Edge Canary and Beta, Edge has now updated with a new feature. The split-screen feature is quite nifty and useful, and it also works great with the stable version of the browser as it allows users to use two different websites at the same time on one screen. It eliminates the need for another browser. You can also use it to resize the split window and customize it according to your needs. This feature is available on Edge Beta, Dev, and Canary builds.

Split Screen is a great addition to Microsoft Edge.

In the latest update for Microsoft Edge, users can use two web pages side-by-side for those who need to reference two websites at the same time. This feature is available to all Microsoft Edge users. With this, you can have the same layout as moving the desired tab to different browser windows and use the Windows tool to align the windows side-by-side, which was a bit of a hassle as it did not always fit as expected.

You can adjust the split-screen, adjust and customize the website windows according to your preference, and customize them to fit your needs. When you use this feature, there will be a single address bar and menu, which saves a lot of hassle. The active windows from the split-screen will have an active address bar and menu, so there is nothing to confuse, and this thing makes it clutter-free.

Users no longer have to work on multiple tasks, and the split-screen mode makes things easy. You won’t find this backed into the Microsoft Edge Settings; you have to enable this from the Microsoft Flags. Here are the following instructions:

  • Open edge://flags on your Microsoft Edge, and then search for the Microsoft Edge Split Screen.
  •  Next, enable it from the drop-down menu.
  •  That’s it! Restart your Microsoft Edge.

After enabling this, you will find the split-screen button on the top toolbar in the upper-right corner of the address bar. You can hide the Split-screen option from the toolbar by right-clicking on it and then choosing “hide from toolbar.” If you want to open any website on a split-screen, clicking on that button will initiate the split-screen on your Microsoft Edge, and it’s quite flexible.

You can also open it by clicking on the link and then clicking on “Open in a link on webpage” and selecting “open link in split-windows” to switch the mode. This new feature in Edge enables the hidden split-screen. After enabling this, you can use two web pages under one tab with the consolidated tabs, and this also reduces the duplicate browser interface or requires you to drag a tab into its own Edge window. Alternatively, you can use the Windows 11 Snap Assist feature or a separate instance of Edge Browser.

Apart from this, Microsoft is also working on a similar project to redesign Microsoft Edge. It’s called Phoenix, which will be built on a new Windows 11-designed language focusing on key areas like productivity features and deeper integration with AI features as well with Windows, and split-screen mode will be one of them. The split-screen feature is quite useful; journalists can use it to multitask such as watching videos while working on a document.

This is one of the great options for being more productive, and after enabling this experimental feature, you can see the option for split-screen within your Microsoft Edge Settings. Apart from this, if you encounter any issues with the Microsoft Edge split-screen, you can send feedback for your problem.
