Samsung devices come with a lot of features, among which they allow users to run computer interfaces on external displays and also on Windows. So if you don’t want to carry a laptop or want to use your smartphone as a computer on Windows, then Samsung devices allow you to do with Dex capabilities.

Dex is one of the amazing features that help with accomplishing tasks like a PC directly from your smartphone itself. It’s quite mature, and since it’s wireless, it’s way more convenient for creating, editing, and completing tasks. So if you are a beginner, then you might encounter a low-resolution screen.

What is Samsung Dex?

You can turn your Samsung device into a desktop by connecting it to an external monitor or Windows 11 device. You can connect either wirelessly via USB-C to HDMI with an external keyboard and mouse or wirelessly. Dex offers an Android-based desktop experience just like ChromeOS/Chromebook, and you can use it. The company continues to expand its Dex ecosystem with the Dex app for Windows and Mac.

How to use Dex wirelessly on Windows 11

There are some pre-requirements to start using the Dex wirelessly with Windows 11. Check out the following instructions.

Pre-Requirements

To use this, your device should be running OneUI 3.1 or higher.

  • If you are using a wired connection or a DX cable, ensure that it is securely plugged in.
  • For wireless connections, ensure you are using Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1.

There are still benefits that allow Samsung users to make better use of screen real estate, even if the content is upscaled. For that, I recommend you continue using FHD.

  • Open the Good Lock Module.
  • Now, from the bottom menu, tap on Life Up.
  • Look for Multistar, and then click on the download button to start downloading.
  • Once downloaded, launch the Multistarter.

To make it full-screen, simply press F11, and to disable full-screen, hover over to the top and then click on the window button to make a small window. If you have been using it on Windows, you can continue using the connected mouse, keyboard, or other peripherals. Not to mention, you can drag and drop files from one to another.

You do have a taskbar at the bottom and the option to multitask. Most of the time, you can continue using the keyboard shortcut. To exit the Samsung Dex from your computer, you need to click on the Dex icon in the lower-left corner and then click on Dex or Quit Dex on your computer.

Samsung Dex High-Quality Display Resolutions

Several factors can affect the appearance when using Samsung Dex on Windows. For example, your external display may be incorrect, blurry, of the wrong colour, or have problems with the resolution.

So if the Dex isn’t filling the screen or looks distorted, then you may need to adjust your display to work better with the Dex. Following the display’s native resolution, which isn’t 1080p, you may need to adjust the screen to fit options or display pictures to enhance them to get clear images.

Samsung Dex External Display Troubleshooting

  • Adjust screen and text sizes: Some apps may not allow you to change the font size, but you can change the Dex screen size by navigating to Settings > Samsung Dex, and then from the Screen Zoom or Font Size, use the slider on the bottom.
  • Try another device: Try connecting to a different device. It supports a pad, station, or cable to another monitor or TV. It is possible that your display doesn’t support the resolution of Samsung Dex.
  • Check the device’s compatibility: Samsung Dex is available for select Samsung devices. It includes the S8 and higher, but it’s not available on the Galaxy Z Flip.

I don’t think Samsung Dex is meant to replace the laptop, but you can turn your Samsung Galaxy Mobile or smartphone. Instead, it allows users the convenience of not having to carry multiple devices, and by using Samsung Dex, you can connect to a nearby monitor or TV.

Since it has been quite mature, I don’t have any major lag or issue with the experience of the Dex. Samsung has overcome the performance issue, and the unique desktop environments are a full-fledged experience. At least on CP, the hardware solutions are superior in this regard.
