Oppo announced its Reno10 Pro earlier this year on July 10, which became available to users for sale starting on July 13, 2023. The device comes with a 6.7″ AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 778 5G (6nm) processor, a 4600mAh battery, and runs on Android 13-based ColorOS 13.3. Despite having cutting-edge technology, there are some things you should know before proceeding.

Oppo Reno10 Pro: Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High-quality display with excellent brightness, colour accuracy, and smoothness
  • Versatile and powerful camera experience

Cons

  • Lacks an official ingress protection rating
  • There is no stereo speaker, thermal management could have been better, and there is much bloatware.
  • Inadequate peak brightness and overpriced
  • GPU performance is better for heavy gaming or other GPU-intensive tasks.
  • Issues with lighting conditions could be better.
  • It has a decent sound experience for casual use; it is not suitable for audiophiles or those who prefer bass response.

Design

The company’s approach to distinctive and modern design, which is subdued, exudes minimalism with a glass sandwich design and glossy rear panel. The device’s rear panel and frame match, both with a sandwich design and a relatively thin middle frame. The colour of the frame also matches the rest of the body, and the curvature is similar to the rear panel.

The camera module sticks out enough for the phone to wobble, and the camera module matches the rest of the device. Overall, the device will be comfortable to hold as it does not have sharp edges or corners. The surface is smooth rather than the steep chamfer surrounding the island, which ties the design together.

The surface has no texture but gathers a lot of grease and grime. The colour is also subdued, with a pastel look, and can easily blend into its surroundings. The Oppo Reno10 Pro dimensions are measured at 162.3×74.2×7.9mm, weighing around 185 grams. As the build quality is good on this device, the chassis has no noticeable flex or hollowness.

Display

The display is the device’s highlight, with a 6.7″ AMOLED having a 1080x2412p resolution, 1B colours, and a 120Hz refresh rate, which can reach 950 nits of peak brightness. There is a 20:9 aspect ratio, and the pixel density is around 394 ppm. Despite having a 120Hz refresh rate, it is not adaptive, and you can only use it in 60Hz, 120Hz, or audio modes. The device also offers an HDR brightness boost, and the AMOLED on this device is perfect for deep black and an infinite contrast effect.

Additionally, it has an option for a few colour modes, including Vivid. The company aims for the DCI-P3 colour space for nearly perfect colour accuracy. Since the display is a 10-bit panel, it has less colour banding, 1B+ colours, HDR10+ certification, and the highest possible Widevine L1 DRM for streaming service support. Moreover, it has a high-quality display with excellent brightness, colour accuracy, and smoothness. To protect all this, it is protected by Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star 2 for resilience against scratches and minor impacts. The device runs on Android 13-based ColorOS 13.1 out of the box.

Processor

Under the hood, the device runs on a Qualcomm SM7325 Snapdragon 778 5G based on a 6nm SoC paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Upfront, the GPU of the device is Adreno 642L, which helps ensure satisfying gaming performance.

This makes it easy to use many apps and games. You will not find any issues with day-to-day tasks like browsing, social media apps, and light games. However, it may need to perform better in heavy usage. In 3DMark Wildfire Extreme, the device scored lower than most but was better than the Pixel 7A. During the Geekbench 6 test, it scored 1013 and 2817 in single and multi-core, respectively.

Camera

In terms of the camera, the device has a triple rear-camera module packed with a 50MP primary camera with OIS based on the Sony IMX890 sensor, a 32MP Sony IMX709 telephoto camera with PDAF, and an 8MP ultra-wide Sony IMX355 angle lens. Furthermore, the camera performs well in day and night conditions, producing crisp, detailed images in neutral colours. With ProXDR turned on, it provides an increased dynamic range of up to eight times. As for selfies, there is a 32MP front-facing shooter, which is also good.

Sounds

It has dual stereo speakers with grills at the bottom, and the earpiece doubles as a secondary speaker. The audio quality is decent, with support for 24-bit/192 kHz audio, ensuring your media and content are accompanied by rich and clear sound. The volume performance is decent, although the audio quality in mid-range response and treble sounds is muffled, and mid-bass is okay.

Battery, charging, and connectivity

It offers a variety of connectivity options, including 5G support, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1 with LE and aptX HD support. Moreover, for sensors, it has GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDA, and QZSS for positioning, as well as NFC and an IR blaster. However, it does not have an FM radio or a 3.5mm audio jack.

When it comes to the battery, it has a massive 4600mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging, which gives users a total endurance rating of 104 hours. You can charge this device up to 58% in 15 minutes and 100% in 30 minutes.

Verdict

The device became available on July 13, 2023, in the 12/256GB configuration. It comes in two different colour options: silver grey and glossy purple. The starting price in India is Rs 39,999. It is worth noting that the price may vary depending on retailers and the region. Oppo Reno10 Pro is a compelling choice for some, especially in offline markets. It does have some hits and misses, but it is still worth considering the device.
