Clone app is one of the most useful features, which has already been available on several OEM custom ROMs like Samsung’s One UI, Oppo’s ColorOS, Xiaomi MIUI, and others. Now, with the introduction of Android 14, Google allows users to clone their existing apps, but as of now, there will be a limited number of apps, such as social media apps including Discord, Facebook, Telegram, and it is expected to include apps like WhatsApp, Signal, and more.

This will allow users to clone the app and use two different accounts at the same time. This is not the first time Google has introduced this feature; it was first introduced with Android 12, but it didn’t make it to the final production of Android.

Android 14 will introduce Clone App functionality

There are several apps already available which allow having multiple apps. Although there could be plenty of use case scenarios, as you might want to use different accounts, such as one for work, home, and personal, or could be more. It is also going to allow managing several apps and signed apps, since it is now natively going to allow cloned apps, so now you will have two different instances of installed apps on your device.

This will be natively available with Android 14, like the Health Connect on System Settings. You will be able to clone apps from the device’s System Settings by navigating to Settings > Apps > Cloned App. From there, click on the Plus icon and then you can clone the apps.

Native Colone app with Android 14

Native clone app functionality was incorporated into Android 14, facilitating the simultaneous utilization of two accounts.

So, when you create a clone app, the Android will create a clone user profile and install that app onto the profile. After that, any app clone you create will be cloned and stored into the same clone profile. However, the clone will now not share the clone profile and will not share app data with the parent user profile. This means you can log in with a different account and have different settings for both the app. However, there are a lot of apps that are said to be blocked from being cloned, which include Google apps as well.
