Instagram is preparing to launch its Twitter rival since Twitter is going through some issues nowadays. Meta has found a good opportunity. The Thread app will be quite identical to Twitter; however, it seems to be leveraging its Instagram user base to onboard a few initial users.

Under the leadership of Elon Musk, Twitter has gone through some major changes and has also been broken. Just after Elon’s takeover, a few social media apps rose, like Hive. Twitter’s ex-cofounder also announced a decentralised Bluesky platform, Mastodon, and now Instagram Thread has been announced.

How to Get an Invitation for Instagram's Threads Launch Amid Twitter Backlash

Since Meta is backing its infrastructure and has been working on it for a few months now, it doesn’t seem to be broken and is expected to be well on schedule for its launch date, which is scheduled for July 6th. This will have a major impact and will certainly be a viable Twitter competitor.

How to get an Instagram Thread Invite:

The app is also available for pre-order on the App Store and has also been spotted on the Google Play Store. To get these invitations, follow these instructions:

  • Open the Instagram app and go to Search.
  • Type threads and then a little ticket icon in the search bar.
    • If it doesn’t appear by typing thread, then search for “p92” for some reason.
  • By clicking on that ticket, you can claim your username for Thread.
  • Now, it will show you an invitation.

Alternatively, you can also get this invitation by heading over to your profile and clicking on it. Next, tap on the triple-dot menu. There, you may have a ticket to claim. Note: It’s not working for all; don’t worry, as the actual launch has been scheduled for tomorrow. You don’t have to wait too long.

The scheduled time hasn’t been confirmed, but eventually, it will roll out to everyone as expected on July 6th. The invitation shows your existing profile username, and it’s not clear if users are allowed to change it.

Earlier screenshots suggested that this would be a mix of Instagram UI and icons with Twitter-like functionality. As Twitter continues to aggressively make its platform more towards paywalls, Instagram Meta has a high potential to grow rapidly among competitors like Hive, Bluesky, Mastodon, and other similar platforms.
