Counter-Strike 2 has been officially announced by Valve, using the Source 2 Engine, which brings better lighting and improved maps. The game has been updated for a long time and will not support many of its older console commands.

You can access the developer console system in Counter-Strike 2 if you have already downloaded the game.

What are the tips and tricks for getting the most out of Counter-Strike 2 and improving performance?

Here are the essential commands that you can use to boost your CS2 performance and unlock customization features like HUD, crosshair, ViewModel, or audio settings. But before using these commands, users need to enable the developer console in the game.

  • Click on the gear icon that appears in the upper-left corner of CS2.
  • Afterward, go to the game, and you will find the option to enable the developer console (~).
  • Click on the drop-down menu and select Yes to access the console in CS2.
  • To open the console, press the ~ button to write and execute commands.

The console will be enabled when launching the game with the launch options -dev and -console for CS2 on Steam. Once your option is unclickable in the settings, it will show as “Launched with Developer Console.”

Maximum FPS and Performance in Counter-Strike 2 Settings

The game utilizes heavy system resources for optimal competitive play. Here are the best video settings for CS2 to achieve maximum FPS and performance.

  • Open CS2 Settings by clicking on the gear icon in the upper-left corner.
  • Go to the video tab and choose a high refresh rate.

With this, you can maximize performance. Adjust your brightness based on your preferences. Check out these optimal video settings.

  • Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 16:9
  • Resolution: High, depending on your monitor
  • Display Mode: Fullscreen
  • Refresh Rate: High, depending on your monitor
  • Laptop power saving: disable

To achieve optimal visual clarity in CS2, you can use the highest resolution, depending on your monitor. However, the native resolution is always best for playing the game. We suggest reducing the resolution.

Note: You can adjust the in-game rendering resolution using AMD FidelityFX (FSR) to boost your FPS in CS2.

These settings will help you achieve optimal performance in Counter-Strike, along with new features that you can use. FPS gamers often use developer console commands to boost performance, improve communication, and make other tweaks.

Advanced Video Settings for Counter-Strike 2

Depending on your preference, you can also use the Competitive preset or the Maximum FPS preset.

You can try these settings. However, it depends on your Windows PC. You can use these settings to get the best experience, even on a high-end Windows machine. Experiment with playing the game with uncapped FPS to achieve the maximum possible FPS while maintaining optimal visual clarity.

  • Competitive preset: RTX 3050 or above. It will give you optimal visual clarity.
  • Low-end PC: Intel Xe integrated graphics. It is capable of offering 70/100 FPS.

Note: Nvidia Reflex is causing issues with playing Counter-Strike 2. Because of this, players have been encountering stuttering and low FPS. If you encounter any issues, disable Nvidia Reflex.

We recommend that users do not limit their FPS unless necessary. Depending on your system hardware, you can try different combinations to achieve the best smooth gaming experience. You may get 500+ FPS, but limiting FPS is not recommended.

Reduce Lag and Delay in CS2

To address inconsistent gameplay due to lag and delay in the game, and with the recent change in guidelines regarding invitation eligibility for the game’s limited test version, this issue often occurs because of the interpolation time applied by the client to every player on the server.

  • You can execute the cl_interp command from the developer console and set it to 0.1 or 100ms.
  • The accepted value is on the lower side.

Note: The default cl_update and cl_interp_ratio values for CS2 are set to 20 and 2, respectively. However, you can create an interp value of 0.1 or 100ms.

Maintain a smooth gameplay experience for all players, where information from the enemy is received 64 or 120 times per second. The delay tends to cause certain problems for players, as they experience everything slightly later. However, the main problem is that if players are delayed by 100ms on their screen and every player on the server has these default values, everyone is seeing a delayed version of each other, resulting in a total effective delay of 200ms.

However, Counter-Strike 2 takes the highest value between these two and adds the interpolation times to the individual ping of the players, compensating for the delay a player sees on their screen.

Counter-Strike Performance and UHD Commands

You can use these new performances and enhancements with these commands according to your preference to adjust your HUD and performance.

  • viewmodel_fov [X]
    • With this, you can adjust your FOV to get a better field of view from an FPS perspective.
  • cl_drawhud 0

  • console
    • Enable the developer console directly in CS2 without opening the in-game settings.
  • +fps_max 0
    • Cap the frame rate using this launch option.
    • Kill your character instantly.

Counter-Strike 2 replaces CSGO.

One of the most anticipated updates to CS: GO, the major update Counter-Strike 2, is about to come. The game files for Counter-Strike 2 are located within the CS: GO installation folder. During the early access of CS2, it existed inside CS: GO. If you are still wondering about the legacy Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO), which may be replaced by Counter-Strike 2, SteamDB lists Counter-Strike 2 with the app ID 2279720, which exists within the parent app CS: GO with the ID 730.

Valve has confirmed that some features of CS2 will point towards CS2, which will replace CS: GO with the launch of Counter-Strike 2. Additionally, the stock weapon models from CS: GO will be upgraded to HD, and you can find inventory, including the 2015 Service Medal, in the CS2 inventory. This is quite similar to what Activision did with Warzone. Recently, Activision shut down the original Call of Duty: Warzone after the launch of Warzone 2. Activision supported the original game for almost a year, and now, after a year, it has officially shut down.

Play the left-hand Viewmodel

If you used to play games in left-hand mode, then you can play Counter-Strike 2. Here is how you can easily swap between left- and right-hand view models based on your preference.

  • Players first need to enable the developer console. To do this, head over to the settings in the upper-left corner of CS2.
  • Go to the Game Section and enable the Developer Console (~) settings by selecting “Yes” from the drop-down menu.
  • After that, you need to join a match in CS2. Alternatively, you can head over to Practice Mode to avoid interruptions.
  • Next, press the (~) key to open the Developer Console and enter the command to edit the view model.
  • While editing the CS2 model, you can increase or decrease your weapon’s FoV.
  • The command for this is viewmodel_fov <number>. You can adjust the value from 54 to 68, depending on your preference. You just need to replace the number with the desired value.
  • Furthermore, you can edit the view model’s placement on the X, Y, and Z axes.
  • These are the codes in which you replace the number tag with values ranging from -3 to 3:
viewmodel_offset_x <number>

viewmodel_offset_y <number>

viewmodel_offset_z <number>
  • Once you enter the command and its value, hit enter to make the changes. You can further customize it accordingly.

To customize the CS2 View Model, we have a code for you that you can customize and apply the changes to:

viewmodel_fov 68; viewmodel_offset_x -3; viewmodel_offset_y -3; viewmodel_offset_z -3

You can customize your CS2 view model according to your preferences. We can expect Valve to push an update in which we have the cl_righthand command for left-hand ViewModel in Counter-Strike 2.

Enable Show FPS in Counter-Strike 2.

The developers of CS2 have recently changed the usage of the net_graph console command, but we have a different command that helps users show FPS and visualize their ping.

  • Open Settings by clicking on the gear icon in the upper-left corner of the screen.
  • Go to the game submenu; there you will find the option to enable the developer console (~). Set this to Yes from the drop-down menu and apply the changes.
  • After that, press the ~ key to open the Developer Console screen. There, you need to enter the command cl_showfps 1.
  • After doing this, when you launch the game, the FPS will appear on the map in real time.

Alternatively, you can also use the commands cl_showfps two and cl_showfps 3, which will show additional information alongside the frame rate.

Enable the New Net Graph in Counter-Strike 2.

It’s essential to understand how the system functions when playing CS2 by using information like FPS, latency, and more through Net Graph console commands for CS2.

  • You can use the command “cq_netgraph 1” from the developer console.
  • Now, launch the game, and when you see your connection quality statistics, you will see Kill History appear in the top-right corner.
  • This will help you monitor whether the game server is stable or laggy.

There are several alternate ways to show FPS in CS2 through Steam itself. You can enable it by going to Steam > Settings > In-game section, then clicking on “In-game FPS counter” and selecting the position where you want the information to be displayed on the screen.

Enable Ping in Counter-Strike 2.

To check your FPS and connection quality, you can check your game server’s ping with these commands.

  • You can check your ping in the scoreboard by simply tapping the Tab key, and you will see the ping next to your player name.
  • Alternatively, you can use these console commands to check your ping or game connection quality.
  • Open your Developer Console by pressing the “~” key, then enter the command “status” and hit enter. It will show FPS or ping in CS2.

Enable God in Counter-Strike 2.

You can enable GOD mode in practice mode in Counter-Strike 2. To do this, use the command “sv_cheats 1” to enable cheats, then use the “god” command. This will make you invincible until it stops working. After this, you can use the “noclip” command in CS2 to fly around. You can also bind a key to “noclip” for easier use. For example, you can use the command “Bind c noclip” in the console, and then fly by pressing the C button. These are some tips and tricks to help you get started with Counter-Strike 2.
