Apple has announced the beta of their operating system, iOS 16.5 Beta, and iPadOS 16.5. This is meant for developers to test and provide feedback before the company starts rolling out the stable update to Apple users. This update brings several improvements, new features, fixes, and security updates. It’s available now to update your iPhone and iPad with the latest testing. This offer is available to users enrolled in the Apple Testing Program.

Earlier this month, the third beta update of iOS came out two weeks after the release of the second rollout. Apple released the second beta on April 11, and this new beta for iOS and iPadOS has a build number of 20F5050f, up from 20F5039e for iOS 16.5 or iPadOS 16.5. We don’t advise regular Apple device users to install this beta update on their primary device because this version is still in the testing phase, and it could have major bugs or errors, leading to data loss.

Apple for Developers and Beta Testers

You can get this from the Apple Developer Center if you want to try the latest testing. For this, users need to sign up for the beta testing program, or you can update hardware already using the OS’s beta version. This will allow developers to get early access to the upcoming version of iOS or iPadOS. With this, they can test their apps and software experience so that everything goes as expected when it comes to releasing, for which developers often provide feedback to Apple.

What’s New in iOS 16.5 Beta 3 or iPadOS 16.5 Beta 3

The company has almost reached the lifecycle of its iOS 16. This beta update has some notable changes and new features, but it’s unlikely that iOS 16.5 will bring any major improvements or features. This update is mostly packed with minor improvements and new features expected for the 5th major release of iOS 16. While this only focuses on performance improvements, minor changes, and bug fixes.

Apple may be saving new features for iOS 17. Regarding iOS 16.5, we may have the first new Sports tab in the Apple News app, which is expected to replace the search bar recently moved to the following tabs. This will give users more news and information related to sports.

Another thing is Siri and Screen Recording. Users can now start and stop screen recording on their devices with the help of the Siri voice command. To use this feature, you can say, “Hey Siri, start a screen recording,” To stop Siri, you can say, “Hey Siri, stop a screen recording.” Apart from this, Apple didn’t share any changelog about any new features or changes.

Apple recently released iOS 16.4, and the company released the beta update less than a day after the release of iOS 16.4. We can expect the final release of iOS 16.5 to arrive by the end of May. On the other hand, this will be the last update for iOS 16; we will have the first iOS 17 beta, which may arrive in June.

Apple has already scheduled the Next Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC23), where the company will likely announce the iOS 17. Apple has yet to make the stable iOS 16.4 and keeps releasing the next update, which is iOS 16.5 Beta 3. We really appreciate that Apple keeps committed to offering long-term software support and keeps updating its devices. Android manufacturers should learn how good software support commitment makes the difference, especially Realme, Redmi, Poco, and Vivo, some of the most criticized manufacturers and successful Android OEMs.
