Google said they would release their tablet. Samsung has already done an excellent job with their custom skin on top of Android, making their tablet feature-rich. Now Google is working hard to improve the experience on Android for tablets. These features will also complement the foldable device.
With the Android 14 Developer Preview, it’s going to be a massive change.
Developer Preview The taskbar first appeared, and it had a text label for the app icon, so it would show the app name below it. This was also available with the previous version but wasn’t enabled by default. Google will call this a “momentary taskbar,” To use it, you need to switch to 600 or higher DPI.
Meanwhile, as we mentioned, it was also available with the previous version. Still, it was only available after the Android 13 QPR2 update, and little information about this has yet to be spotted. Therefore, 9to5Google has used this with their Pixel 7. It seems a little awkward as it doesn’t have any specific behavior. The main question is its primary function: will it only show the last open app or allow for more than that?
Google also has a transient taskbar, which looks quite similar to the iPadOS taskbar we have seen develop over the years. As of now, there is little information to be shared with you as developers are still trying to find more information about it. Stay tuned for more updates on this.
