Samsung has announced that its online data backup service will end on Jul 23rd, 2023. Instead, Samsung is pushing users to keep their backup service on OneDrive. Some features for backing up music and documents have already ended support on Jul 3rd, 2023 when the cloud will no longer be available for backup. This allows users to back up, sync, and restore content stored on Samsung devices.
Samsung Cloud enables users to back up data for the Samsung ecosystem. This allowed users to check their backed-up images, videos, and other content from any Samsung device through the web version introduced five years ago. Premium storage accounts were also discontinued and replaced by Microsoft OneDrive. Users’ data has been transferred to Microsoft OneDrive since October 2020, and after June 23rd, there will be no recovery.
Samsung has partnered with Microsoft OneDrive for backup services.
Users will need to move their data from Samsung Cloud to OneDrive. OneDrive offers more storage space and features than Samsung Cloud. This is a very effective strategy for reducing costs while providing more to consumers. It will be deleted if you don’t move your data by Jul 23rd, 2023. Samsung Cloud discontinued Gallery Sync and Drive storage in 2021.

Samsung recommends OneDrive as an alternative cloud storage service, and this move starts with One UI 2.1 based on Android 10. The migration process is seamless and takes 5 minutes. Users can replicate their data, and to back up everything on Samsung phones, users need a Samsung account and a Microsoft account. Some features were gradually removed, and the ability to synchronize images and videos directly from the Gallery app will disappear soon.
Apart from Microsoft’s OneDrive, which Samsung recommends, several backup services are available to choose from. These services allow users to back up, sync, and restore content on Samsung devices.
