Genshin Impact, and the various issues players may encounter with its launch, has been extensively covered by us. The instructions for updating manually can be found here, and some players may want to do so as well.

How to fix the Genshin Impact 9004 error code

Several users have reported that since update 1.3, they are experiencing the 9004 error, which has an error prompt that reads “Failed to download resource files or network”. A common cause of this error is when a person downloads a patch that is over 1GB in size instead of the normal mini patch, which should be just over 120MB in size. An example of an error prompt is shown below.

  • Now, select the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the launcher
  • Here, you need to click “Repair Game Files“, followed by “Repair Now”.

Remove the game and manually install it

  • You can either press Windows and R together or search for it in Windows Search to open Windows Run
  • Press OK after typing AppData, as shown below
  • You need to delete the miHoYo folder first in the Local folder
  • Delete the miHoYo folder within the LocalLow folder in the AppData folder, and then return to the AppData folder
  • You can locate regedit using Windows Search, and open it by right-clicking on it and setting it to the administrator
  • Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER, and then expand SOFTWARE
  • Continue by expanding miHoYo and deleting Genshin Impact
  • After This, you need to Mannually Install the Game.
