After releasing Windows 11 builds in the Dev Channel, Microsoft is now also releasing builds in the Beta Channel for users who would like to test a more stable version of the OS.

There are three readiness levels to the Windows Insider Program: Developer, Beta, and Release Preview channels. Because previews are rough and contain many bugs, the “Dev Channel” is for highly technical users. There are usually problems with these builds, and you may have to work around various problems.

Alternatively, the “Beta Channel” is for anyone who wishes to test upcoming features or validate apps and deployments. You may still encounter issues in this channel, even though the builds are more stable. Additionally, the features in this channel are usually those that will be included in the final release. In addition, the “Release Preview Channel” will offer the final build of Windows 11 before it is released to everyone, with advanced quality updates and certain key features.

Change Insider Preview channel from Dev to Beta on Windows 11

Follow these steps to switch from Dev to Beta Channel in Windows 11:

  1. Open the Settings app on Windows 11.
  2. Click on the Windows Update button.
  3. On the right side, click Windows Insider Program.
  4. To choose your Insider builds, click the Choose your Insider builds button.
  5. Choose the Beta Channel option.

The device will be able to receive more stable builds of Windows 11 once you complete these steps.

The Beta Channel is available by changing the settings in Microsoft’s Dev Channel. As you read this guide, if the option is grayed out, then the channels have different builds and this switch is no longer permitted. You will need to reinstall the OS and enroll the computer in the preferred Insider channel in this case.
