Google is rolling out Android 14 Beta 1.1 to fix issues with Pixel’s fingerprint scanner and other critical bugs. Here are all the details.

Google has started rolling out the Beta update for Android 14. The company is expected to launch the stable version of Android 14 by August of this year. So far, the company has released the Developer Beta for Android 14 with major improvements and optimizations. Since this is the next version of Android 14, it will give all users who have enrolled in the Android Beta program the update via OTA (Over-the-air) update, which you can check to download and update to the latest version.

Android 14 Beta 1.1 is available to download for the Google Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5A, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. Several new changes and features will take the Android experience to the next level, including security, privacy, and several changes under the hood. Optimization and the Dynamic theme engine will improve with the latest version of Android 14 Beta 1.1.

Android 14 Beta for Non-Google Smartphones

OEMs are expected to start testing the Android 14 Developer preview, which could be announced for non-Google Pixel smartphones. This includes Samsung, Nothing, Oppo, and Xiaomi, which will start enrolling their users in the Android 14 Developer Preview. The company will keep teasing and will share its next version of Android in the coming weeks as Google may officially announce Android 14 in August.

Google is also expected to drop several Beta and Public Beta ahead of the I/O Conference, and there are several features or secret developments under the hood. As the company didn’t share the complete changelog for the new feature yet, it will be released when the company releases Android 14 officially. The first Beta of Android 14 has a lot of bugs, and after several visual changes and the optimization of Android 14 Beta, it will be rolled out soon, likely around Google I/O 2023. The update fixes the System UI crashing when accessing the Wallpaper & Style Screen through the settings apps or by long-pressing from the home screen. It also fixed issues that prevented fingerprint unlocking from being used on Google Pixel 6+ and fixed the status bar that didn’t display on mobile networks.

Some users have also experienced the prevented a SIM card or eSim from being detected or activated in some cases on Google Pixel 6, Google Pixel 6 Pro, and Google Pixel 6a on Verizon. Also, fixes an issue when the lock screen displayed a message with a strong unresolved placeholder when a smart lock was enabled.
