Each smartphone comes with an exclusive selling point, like Dynamic Island on iPhone 14. The real value came out when the manufacturer promised future updates. Being a technology magazine, it requires regular updates to keep up with the global technology ecosystem. Whenever a manufacturer does not provide an update, smartphone users get out of the technology ecosystem of the entire globe.

I have found that around 80% of people purchase phones without considering future updates. And then they don’t get updates and end up getting bored with the initial design. Typically, they switch devices within the first 7-8 months after purchase. They are wasting their time and money. So to address such concerns, we came here to let you know about the manufacturer with the most frequent updates.

Smartphone manufacturers with the most frequent Android updates

There is a long line up of mobile manufacturers on the global market. For a long time, few companies have left the industry. As a result, such companies do not attempt to analyze the market during the competitive wave. In other words, they don’t think about what a smartphone buyer wants in their phone before he makes a decision. Most people prefer to buy phones at low prices because companies such as Infinix, Itel, and others already exist.

Users now know the importance of future updates. This is the main decision that determines whether a user should purchase a smartphone or reject one. Unfortunately, there are only a few companies that promise to provide future updates on that concern. For this, we started our research and found some interesting facts about smartphone companies. I mean we are known to be the smartphone companies with the most frequent updates. Let’s have a brief one-on-one.

Samsung

Being a technology giant with a huge market share, Samsung is known as a consistent Android update provider. Samsung has always prioritized future updates, which is why they are known as the king of the future. Sometimes they are so desperate that they challenge Google (owner of Android) in terms of update roll out. It is probably the only company that guarantees four years of updates with security patches.

According to past records, Samsung provides 4 years of updates for high-end smartphones launched in 2019. And they have also given 5 years of security updates for some more devices. As for Android 12, it was rolled out in just 41 days from launch, and Samsung was the top provider. In the smartphone industry, Samsung has given a lot to the industry and has always been regarded as the best.

Google

Google is now the second smartphone from which users expect frequent Android updates. Being the parent company of Android, Google has always topped the competition, except Samsung. As soon as Google released the Pixel 3 series, it began providing longer-lasting updates. As per the data, Google provides three years of software and security updates.

From the launch of the Pixel 6 series, Google also updated their Android update policy where they guaranteed three years of software updates and 5 years of security updates. Furthermore, the Google Pixel series has a stock UI, so even if an update is delayed, no issue arises. As the parents of Android, I know Google won’t delay it.

class="wp-block-heading">OPPO

In the same way that Google and Samsung are on the same page, Op is on the same page, but they are separated. Previously, there was no such thing but back in May 2022 they updated their policy. In that policy they said to provide three years software and 4 years security updates for the Find X series. Reno and F series will receive two years of software updates and three years of security updates. And the rest will receive a one-year software updates. After the initial launch, OPPO is the second company to deliver Android 12 in just 57 days.

Vivo

Being the flagship of the BBK group, Vivo follows the same path as OPPO. But there is a downside to Vivo. I mean Vivo provided the Android 12 update in 76 days from initial launch. Vivo, like OPPO, did not update its policy, but in 2022, they committed to offering three-year updates. In order to stay up-to-date on future updates, Vivo provides a tool called “Select a product model”. In addition to that, there is nothing new with Vivo, but I hope they will update their policy soon or possibly tweak it with other sister companies as well.

Besides that, there are many other known companies such as Realme, LG, Sony and more. However, we found all the items on our list during our research. The reason being, they only update once a year, which is a very short period of time. But yes, OnePlus and Motorola are among the companies that promise three years of software updates for their selected phones. Apart from them, the rest of the companies do not provide frequent updates to their titles.

Conclusively, from this overview of different smartphone companies you can understand the flow of updates. In our opinion, Samsung is the most frequent update provider, being the first to roll out Android 12. But that does not mean other companies are just being wasteful. It appears that Samsung is facing serious competition from companies like Oppo and others who are growing steadily. As of now, Samsung appears to be first in everything. So, these are the relevant things. If still any users have questions, please ask them below.
