These days, carriers and OEMs fill our devices with their apps and most of the time we don’t use those applications. However, those apps tend to collect user information and from the standpoint that you can uninstall those bloatware. Still, those were not easy to do by general users in a lot of manners because it comes with a potential risk of breaking your smartphone.
Google tends to solve this issue with Android 14; users of Android 13 are not allowed to uninstall bloatware from their devices. Back to the topic, Android 14 will allow users to remove bloatware installed by their device manufacturer.
There is no specific count of how many bloatware companies can be installed because of this. OEMs do put as many apps as they can bundle with the device. The apps listed under “Your device > App installed in the background” are not required for your device to function normally, and are designed by Google.

This is a new addition to Android 14. This page will help you unhide apps installed on your device by your carrier. One prime example is Glance. This app feature only appears in the device’s Personalize settings and there isn’t any option to uninstall it, except for disabling it. However, it’s still just a swipe away from re-enabling.
To resolve such issues from Android, Google now gives users an option in the Settings labeled as “Apps installed in the background”. All applications installed on your device by your device manufacturer and other partner apps installed in the background will appear here. From this page, users can uninstall those apps.
This not only helps users to get rid of bloatware, but also make space on their device’s internal storage. This feature is in the early development, so it’s hidden from general users. Still, you can expect it to surface on Device settings with future Android 14 Developer updates.
