Samsung announced at the Unpacked 2024 event, confirming the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra on January 17th in San Jose, California. The time frame for the launch is earlier than usual, but they also chose San Francisco (USA) due to close collaboration with Google and competition with Apple.
The company is launching two weeks earlier than the previous Galaxy S-series launch to improve revenue for Q1. They have settled on a timeline where sales peak in Q1 and Q3 of each year (Galaxy Z Series).

Galaxy AI’s Features
Samsung will be focusing on Galaxy AI during the event called “AI Phone” or “Samsung’s First AI Phone.” It enhances productivity and improves the user’s experience.
- Samsung could also rebrand Bixby to Galaxy AI.
- Live Translate: You will be able to have live translation during calls.
- Nightography: It will offer enhanced low-light shots.
- Generative Edit: You can remove objects or move them. It helps with filling space, including generative expand and generative fill. It will process in the cloud, so you need a Samsung account and an active internet connection.
- High Resolution: You will be able to capture 50 MP photos.
- Screen Display: It has an Eye Comfort Shield and better clarity.
Some functionality will process on-device, while others require an internet connection, which are features found in Samsung’s virtual assistant, Bixby. Samsung devices already need a Google and Samsung account to have the best experience.
Rumours indicate that Galaxy AI will have the ability to summarise in Samsung Notes, generate wallpapers, and provide language correction and improvement suggestions via Samsung Keyboard, among other features. Samsung Galaxy S24 Series
The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and an Exynos 2400 SoC, bringing significant AI capabilities. The Galaxy S24 is likely to be available in 128 or 256GB of RAM, featuring 8GB of RAM. The Galaxy S24 will have 256 or 512 GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. Lastly, the Galaxy S24+ could be launched with 256 or 512 GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. The high-end model, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, could start at 256GB and go up to 1TB, which could be exclusive to Samsung.com. All the storage variants of the S24 series are likely to have 12GB of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is capable of recording 4K 120fps video, making it great for capturing fast-moving objects or slowing down action scenes. Over the past few weeks, all their specifications, colour variants, and storage options have been leaked; however, not all countries will get all colour options. It is rumoured that Samsung India will not have all colour options, according to reports. In India, the black and violet colours for S24+ will be available, and S24 will be available in all four basic colours: black, grey, violet, and grey.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to be available in black, titanium, violet, and yellow colours. It is similar to the Galaxy S22 Series, available in some additional colours exclusively through Samsung’s online store.
The price of the device will keep prices similar to those of the Galaxy S23 Series, with the Galaxy S24 Series starting at $900. Reportedly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra starts at $1200, and the Galaxy S24+ could be priced at $1000. Furthermore, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will be slightly cheaper than their predecessors, while the Ultra will be more expensive than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
