We all pretty much knew about the smartphone before launch, what we didn’t know, what’s a feature, and what’s new in this Google Pixel 4-Series smartphone. Let’s figure it out and ask yourself: Is this smartphone worth it? Inside the box, you get a USB Type-C to USB adapter for data sharing, a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable, and an 18-watt fast charger.
There were six important major factors in terms of design, display, camera, software, and the new motion sensor. First things first, Google moved from a dual-tone rear panel to a single matte rear finish with a square camera bump. There is also a glass finish on the white colour variant. The orange colour variant is a special edition. The button and the build quality feel solid, and it is certified IP68 water and dust resistance as well as wireless charging.
However, it doesn’t have headphones, but the device feels balanced. There is no bezel on the top of the display, but not a notch version. In the past, Google used a huge notch to fit all the sensors, but now they just go for a bezel. Where they put a new motion sensor technology, known as the radar sensor, for the very first time in a smartphone device.
If you compare it with any current-generation device, like its competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 or S10 Series, you will feel slightly downgraded. You may be using a 2017 device instead of a 2019 one. Not to mention, the display panel on the device is good. You get a 5.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display on the Pixel 4 and a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ OLED display on the Pixel 4 XL. The most important thing is that the display has a 90-Hz display rate.
Furthermore, the display at 90 Hz gets populated after the launch of the Oneplus 7 Pro. It gives you immersive touch responsiveness, and Google also optimizes a refresh of 90 times, but it toggles regardless of what you are doing on it. While it is looking for your face, Pixel 4 adjusts the frame rate accordingly. Moreover, it has good brightness, HDR support, colour accuracy, and an A+ viewing experience.
The camera on any Google Pixel smartphone is one of the most hyped features. Exactly. There is not a wide-angle lens, which is slightly disappointing. It has a 2X optical zoom and Google Super Resolution, so you can capture amazing shots. The Google Camera has improved a lot, which means it is now more powerful and allows you to process HDR images in real-time. It takes night photography further than astrophotography.
On the software front, it runs on Android 10 out of the box and has guaranteed updates for 3 years. Another powerful thing is Google Assistance. It is now built directly into the operating system, which means it is faster than before. Meanwhile, Google Pixel 4 buyers will not get unlimited photos uploaded in the original quality that past Pixel devices had.
Even more, there is that new recorder that converts speech into text and lets you search for what you want to look for. Pixel Devices are Very Power Efficient. We are worried because the Pixel 4XL has a 3700mAh battery, but the Pixel 3 only has a 2800mAh battery. Which we only saw for a short time on any Android smartphone. Google promises to give you an all-day battery life for your Android smartphone.
The motion sensor is one of the highlights of the device. There is a radar sensor. It comes to this device first before any other smartphone applies it to your device. This is used to alert your device to your presence if you sit next to it. Knows that you are near and unlocks the device itself. For security, there is no fingerprint sensor, so it is capable of unlocking the device using a secure 3D face unlock. Lastly, an air gesture, which is in its initial days, may be beneficial.
The Google Pixel 4 comes with a starting price of $799, but the price is not a choice to go for because it is not one of the most powerful smartphones. It’s not even a front-firing dual speaker setup, but you are going to experience immersion and more things to like about it. Software is getting simpler and cleaner faster. Also, it feels good to use on balance; it is the device to buy if you like its features rather than the hardware specs sheet. Thanks for being with us.
