The iPhone is one of the most widely used mobile devices, and there are millions of smartphones. With this, Google takes a significant step to make it easier for iOS users to migrate data from their iPhone. It’s been a headache for a long time, and Apple has had a similar app available on the Google Play Store for years now.

Google silently launched their “Switch to Android” app from iOS and it is available on Apple’s App Store globally. It now allows users to move their personal data from iOS to Android effortlessly. Google has officially made no official announcement and hasn’t shared any details about the app.

This app potentially allows users to move their data, including photos and videos, from iCloud to Google Photos. However, Switch to Android can’t be used for a user’s application due to limitations (Apple didn’t allow apps to pin on iOS for other applications) and the device doesn’t require a physical connection in order to move users’ content. Apple first released their Move to iOS app on the Google Play Store back in September 2015.

Content you can move with Google’s Switch to Android App.

Here is the list of content you were able to transfer with the Switch to App:

  • Contact
  • Calendar
  • Photos and Videos
  • Text Message

This app has not yet been released, according to 9to5Google, but you can find it by searching in the Apple Store. You can use the following link to download the Switch to Android app from the Apple app store thanks to Apple Support for “Unlisted app distributions.” To see it in action, watch the video.

While using Switch to Android, you need to go through some instructions, which include the disabling of iMessage so that the conversation is delivered as SMS on the new Android device.

Before proceeding, you need to know that it is currently listed for devices running iOS 12 or higher versions. Also, the app requires a series of permissions to complete a successful transfer.
