Google launched its Magic Erase feature a while back. Previously it was exclusive to Pixel devices. In the meantime, other OEMs have debuted their Magic Erase-like features which include Samsung’s Object Erase. Magic Erase works great with detecting and removing objects from images.

Now Magic Erase is out of Pixel-exclusive and has debuted on Google Photos for everyone to use. However, this feature is not free; it comes with a Google One subscription. It works on both Android and iOS devices.

Google Photos offers a Magic Eraser feature on Android and iOS devices.

Google Photos comes with plenty of features to use, and to use Magic Erase on Google Photos you need to follow the instructions mentioned below.

  • Open Google Photos and then click on the tool tab.
  • After that, choose Magic Erase and then you can use it to detect and delete the object you want to remove.

Note: You can also access this by clicking on the Magic Erase shortcut while viewing the picture in fullscreen mode.

This feature was first introduced with the Google Pixel 6 announcement. With the recent update, Google said they have also added features like HDR effect for videos and exclusive collage editor style. This update is rolling out in phases, so it may take some time before everyone starts receiving this feature on their device. It could take some time before everyone has access to this feature.

Users can also use the camouflage option, which will detect objects and blend them into the background which makes the picture less distorted compared to removing the object from the background with the Magic Erase tool.
