Microsoft just released the Android Subsystem for Windows 11 Beta and it is likely to be released for Insider Preview with a future update. Windows 11 comes with the Amazon AppStore, and it doesn’t bring a lot of Android apps, but with sideloading you can use apk apps to install on your Windows device.
Simone Franco developed WSATool on the Microsoft Store, which allows users to sideload Android apps with ease without using the command line. With this, WSATool functions similar to a GUI in emulating the ADB commands in order to install Android applications on Windows 11.

How to Sideload Android Apps and Apks from Windows 11 File Manager
- Starting with the open start, and searching for “Environment” to open and change the system environment variable.
- Then Click “Environment Variables..”
- Head over to the “path” variable, which appears on the bottom half of the environment variable and appears under the system variable.
- After selecting Path, click Browser and then go to where your ADB Platform tool is located.
- Choose, and then click OK.
- Next, confirm your action by saving it.
Once everything is done, you will need to enable developer mode in the Windows Subsystem for Android. Keep your WSA enabled for continuous mode, so anytime you have an apk, you can install the app from your Windows 11 File Manager.
You should have Android Subsytm installed on your Windows to sideload. It won’t just directly install Android Apps on your device and go to open the Android application.
