Google has been actively developing its Android Auto platform, intending to compete directly against Apple CarPlay. The company has recently introduced weather integration into Android Auto, providing users with the ability to control their car’s functions through their smartphones.

Following the release of Android Auto version 8.x, Google has overhauled its user interface and implemented various features to enhance the user experience. Among the significant updates is Coolwalk; however, it is currently unavailable to all users and is still being rolled out in phases. We suggest utilising it only after ensuring compatibility with your device and a successful rollout, as it is currently under development and not yet compatible with all devices.

Coolwalk has undergone refinement to enhance its design and user interface. The company aims to establish itself as the primary mobile integration standard for drivers, surpassing CarPlay.

Please refer to the image below to see the redesign’s positive aspects. The company aims to streamline and declutter the user interface, providing a seamless user experience. The new UI theme is currently devoid of support for Dark Mode; however, reports suggest that it may be included in the future, as Google is currently focusing solely on the bright theme.

As this product is still in development, the final version could differ significantly from the reference image that we have shared. The image prominently displays a navigation bar and a suggestion tab, while the rest of the interface features a combination of grey backgrounds for settings and black backgrounds for the phone, multimedia, messaging app, and navigation app menu.
We must wait for the final development stage, as the forthcoming updates will include both Dark Mode and Bright Mode without affecting the user interface. Google has a lot of development work yet to complete.
