When companies stop supporting their old smartphones, the original custom ROMs or “forks” give them new life. Another smartphone from Google, which stopped receiving support from Google, is now being adopted by LineageOS 20 to allow its users to experience Android 13.

Google ended support for this device in 2020 with the last update to Android 11. The Google Pixel 2 series, which includes both the Google Pixel 2 and 2XL, has now been added to Android 13 by LineageOS 20. However, LineageOS 20 was first introduced last year in December 2020, as it was based on Android 13.

Custom ROMs have always been a great way to give new life to your old smartphones, and they give Android enthusiasts a playground to play with or tweak their smartphones. It should be noted that this requires users to unlock the device, so OEMs usually abandon their smartphones for some time.
