Fix Disney+ Hotstar not working issue on any Android Smart TV, Apple Tv, Firestick or Roku
There could be glitch, else Disney+ Hotstart is available in India and if you trying to access from outside India then you should check playing the content using VPN. Without further ado, let’s check it out.
Check your network connection
Since, this is an OTT platform it require active stable internet connectivity. Also, Check your interent connectiion, for this you can use Fast.com, Ookla Speed Test, or by searching Speed Test on Google.
Disney+ Hotstart mostly malfunction due to HotStart API blocked on the WiFi, to fix this you can use the following troubelshooting mentioned down below.
Enable 2.4GHz if you have Dual Band WiFi Router
Every OEM use different admin page, so if you find any difficulty use router manual, or get support from Manufacture support page or forum.
- Open your WiFi Router Dashboard, and then go to 5GHz band Menu.
- Now, Disable 5GHz band, and Enable the 2.4GHz band.
- Click Save.
- That’s it!
Restart your Network
- Turn off by unplug your Home Network Device like Modem and Wireless router.
- Restart your device by Turning ON and then connect the device after a couple of minutes.
- Now, Try again playing Disney+ Hotstar.
Switch to different Connection
- Check Wi-Fi range, and connected with the network in range of your device.
- Use Wi-Fi instead of Cellular data network.
Change DNS Settings on your SmartTV
Changing DNS on SmartTV may differ according to OS, and Manufacture. So check the officall support page for guide.
- Open Settings on your SmartTV.
- From there head over to Network, and then Wi-Fi Connection.
- After that, Click on Advance Wi-Fi Settings.
- Click on Edit, and then uncheck the checkbox for the Set Automatically.
- From there, Change DNS 1 to 8.8.8.8 and DNS 2 to 4.4.4.4.
- Click on Connect, and Restart your Device.
- That’s it!

Disable VPN on SmartTV
Generally SmartTV doesn’t allow to install unless you have AndroidTV OS, here you can download the VPN application from Google Play Store. Meanwhile, if you are using Fire Stick or Fire TV and have installed VPN by sideloading from third-party source.
- Starting with Navigating to your installed VPN using remote control.
- Open the VPN app, and then from there look for the turn off switch or button.
- Click on Disable to turn off VPN.
- That’s it!
Re-Login to Disney+ Hotstar
- To Logout, Open Menu and then head over to the My Account.
- Choose Logout.
- Now, it will open the simply open the Menu and then My Account.
- It will display a code, head over to www.hotstar.com/activate on your laptop or mobile to get verification code.
- After entering the code, Hit Start Watching to verify and can continue to play Disney+ Hotstar.
- That’s it!
Reboot your SmartTV
If your unable to view content on your screen then, Note: If you have connected any USB device then it is advised to disconnected before performing the resetting.

Using Remote Control
Press the power button for 5S until TV restart automatically or choose the restart option if it appear. Your TV likely to be restart within a minute
Unplug AC power Cord
Simply unplug the TV main lead from the electrical outlet, and wait for 2 Minutes. Re-Plug the Power Cord to the electrical outlet.
Reinstall Disney+ Hotstar
Due to corrupt or unexpected gitch causing the error, by reinstalling the app itself you can resolve this issue.
- Press Home Button and Go to Apps.
- Head over to Settings, and then Choose the app you want to delete.
- Select the app, and then click on Delete.
- Now, that app icon will grayed out or if you won’t found grayed icon you need to Search for the app from search icon placed on the upper-right corner.
- Search for the app, and Start installing.
- That’s it!
Check your HDMI Cable
To get input, if you are using HDMI cable then check if your port and have choosen the exact same input cycle. E.g, If your input is through HDMI1 then ensure remote control cycle is through the HDMI1 port
.
- Check HDMI, and the connected Device is powered ON.
- Re-plug HDMI Cable by disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI Cable from the port.
- Try different HDMI Cable
- Re-Check the output of connected video device.
Check Software Update
Ensure your TV is connected to internet, and the navigation might different from OEM to OEM so if you get confused check on the official support page.
- Open Menu from your remote
- Head over to Network, and then choose Software Update.
- If you found update, Check for the update/ and then Download and Install.
- Your TV likely to automatically restart and That’s it!
Alternatively: You can also update your Smart TV by enabling Automatic Firmware Update or use the Manual Firmware update.
Update Installed App
It is important to keep your device update to the latest version.
- Click on Home Button to open Apps Library.
- From there head over to My Apps,
- Choose Update, and then Click on All.
- Next, Click on Update All.
Clear App Cache and Data
- Press Home Button and then head over to Settings.
- Go to Support, and then choose Device Care.
- Click on Start Device Care, and then select the Manage Storage appear on the bottom of the screen.
- Now, there will be installed app, Choose the app and then Open its View Details.
- Click on Clear Data and Clear Cache from the Right-Side panel.
- That’s it!
