In recent years, the use of voice assistants has become increasingly common in households. Many modern phones now come equipped with built-in smart speakers, such as the Nest, Amazon Echo, and Apple Homepod, which have gained popularity for their convenience. However, the use of an always-on microphone raises concerns about privacy.

Deleting Your Alexa, Google, or Siri Voice History

If you prefer a less extreme solution, you can delete the recordings from your assistant and disable voice recognition when it is not necessary (e.g., when you are not using the Echo). This is a viable option.

Alexa history deletion

Deleting Alexa History: To delete individual Alexa voice recordings, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Alexa app on your phone.
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
  3. Select Settings from the menu.
  4. Tap Alexa Account at the top of the page.
  5. Select History to delete specific recordings from your device.

To delete all voice recordings at once:

  1. Visit Amazon’s Devices page.
  2. Select the menu button on the left side of the Echo device you want to manage.
  3. Select Manage Voice Recordings.
  4. Select Delete.

Please note that Amazon cannot guarantee that all audio files will be deleted from its servers even after wiping your account. As an alternative, you can prevent Amazon from using your voice to train its artificial intelligence (AI) by following these steps:

  1. Open the Alexa app on your phone.
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner.
  3. Select your Alexa account.
  4. Tap Manage Alexa’s performance using your data.
  5. Turn off the button next to Help Develop New Features.
  6. Under Use Messages to Improve Transcriptions, turn off the button next to your name.

This will help ensure your privacy with Alexa.

Google Assistant history deletion

Deleting Google Assistant Voice History: There are several ways to delete your Google Assistant voice history:

  1. Visit your Google Account.
  2. Select Data & personalization from the left navigation panel.
  3. Select Voice & Audio Activity from the Activity controls panel.
  4. To view all recordings, click Manage Activity.
  5. To delete a specific item, select the ⋮ three dotted button, then select Delete.
  6. Alternatively, you can select Delete activity by and choose All time to delete all of your Google Assistant activity.
  7. Click Delete at the bottom.

You can also turn off Google Assistant completely by following Google’s instructions for your computer, Android device, iPad, and iPhone.

The best way to delete Siri’s history

Deleting Siri Voice History: To delete the history of your voice interactions with Siri, you will need to turn off Siri and Dictation. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Settings > Siri & Search.
  2. Disable “Listen for Hey Siri.” You can also disable other Ask Siri functions here.
  3. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard.
  4. Disable Voice Dictation by sliding the toggle to the left and selecting Enable Dictation.

By following these steps, you should have successfully deleted the voice history from Siri. Thank you for using our service.
